Director Marc Webb was far from surprised when his The Amazing Spider-man stars became lovers in real life - because they had amazing chemistry the first time they met.
The (500) Days of Summer moviemaker felt sure he had found the perfect Peter Parker in Andrew Garfield and Gwen Stacy in Emma Stone - and he knew he had struck movie gold when he finally got them together.
In a new interview with the Comic-Con Annual, Webb says, “We did screen tests (with Andrew) and Emma just showed up and it was all over.
“Andrew’s a pretty intense guy, but she had him in stitches between takes. She had him just cracking up, and I would watch them in between takes. They didn’t know each other and she’s just so comfortable and so confident.
“You need that energy because Andrew is a very dominating presence and she just went toe to toe with him.”
